BAKER, Thomas Wade - age 81, of Swartz Creek, died November 16, 2022. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org). Thomas was born January 30, 1941 in Flint, MI, the son of Cletus and Mary Evelyn (Potter) Baker. He was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School and General Motors Institute (Kettering University). Thomas married Diane Buytas on November 9, 1963. He retired from General Motors as a supervisor at GM Parts Plant. After retirement he and his son built and ran the Dairy Queen in Swartz Creek in 1988, later becoming The Treat Barn. Thomas was also the Gaines Township Clerk from 1970-1983. Surviving are: wife, Diane; son, Thomas Baker II; daughter, Michelle Baker Cooper; two granddaughters, Michelle Cooper at Duke University and Lexie Cooper at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL; two siblings, John Baker and Barbara Carlson.
