Thomas "Tom" Montgomery, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. A Graveside Military Honor Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road in Holly, Michigan. Tom was born in July 1948 in Flint, Michigan to the late Virgil & Mildred Montgomery. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1965. He continued his education after high school earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree.
In 1966, he enlisted in the US Navy, where he served until 1971. During his service, he was stationed at NAS Oceana and achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class proudly serving as an AME 2 with Attack Squadron 42.
After his military service, he returned to Flint and worked for General Motors until his retirement. He found joy in the great outdoors, spending many summers fishing and boating up north. He was also a skilled pool player, known for his exceptional talent and great sense of humor.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cindi (David) Foster and Cheryl (Adam) Kleinholz; four grandchildren, Evan Foster, Owen Foster, Lauren Kleinholz and Rosemary Kleinholz; his sister, Patricia; several nieces and nephews and dear friend and family member, Larry Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Brooks and brother-in-law, John Lesich.
