Thomas C. SPENCE

SPENCE, Thomas C. -- Age 79, of Flint, died December 12, 2011 at Suncrest Nursing Home, Lapeer. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, December 16, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 1-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Suncrest Nursing Home, 1455 Suncrest Dr., Lapeer, MI 48446 or the Alzheimer's Association. Thomas was born June 14, 1932 in Flint, the son of William Alva and Violet Mabel (Dolan) Spence. He was a 1950 graduate of Beecher High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Mr. Spence married Gail Constable on September 8, 1956. He owned and operated Thomas Spence Insurance Agency for many years and was a life member of Davison VFW Post. Surviving are: wife, Gail; two children, Diane and Jack Ridley of Linden, Michael and Sherry Spence of Flint; three granddaughters, Kandace O'Leary and Bill Dandy, Alison and Larry Mark, Shanon O'Leary and Andrew (Tom's "Andy") Keller; great-grandchildren, Madison Collins and Rylen Keller; sister-in-law, Maxine Spence; life-long friends, Bill Hennessy and Bud Sanchez. His brother, Charles W. Spence preceded him in death. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Suncrest for their love and compassion.
