Thomas Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Thomas Arthur- Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died February 21, 2017. Service will be held 11 AM Monday February 27, at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 9020 Saginaw Rd., Grand Blanc. Fr. Don Davidson officiating. Visitation will take place 3-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and 10 AM until the time of service Monday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Christopher Episcopal Church or the Salvation Army Flint Citadel Corps. Thomas was born October 7, 1938 in Saginaw, the son of John and Helen (Vollmer) Schmidt. He married Barbara Jean Wimmer on February 27, 1971 in Fenton. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Thomas worked for GM Truck and Bus retiring in 1996, with 35 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 598 and a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church. He enjoyed golfing, camping, and playing cards. He was also very involved in his grandchildren's activities. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara; children, Catherine (Christopher) Matus of Swartz Creek and Suzanne (John) Carter of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Chelsea, Adam, Caleb, Calli, Casey, and Kimberlee; sister, Judith (Randy) Baker of Davison; brothers in law, Donald Wimmer of Howell, Kenneth Wimmer of Ubly, and Gerald Wimmer of Howell; and many nieces and nephews.
