MORTON, Thomas X. - Age 70, of Linden, died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden with Rev. Don Neuville officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday and 1-4 and 5-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or McLaren Hospice. Thomas was born September 19, 1936 in Rankin, the son of Early and Grace (Cook) Morton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Tom married Anne Orr on January 10, 1959. He retired from Carmen Ainsworth School District after 28 years of service as a 4th grade teacher. Tom, known as 'The Pig Man' organized many pig roasts and was very active in the Linden Summer Happenings and Linden Band Boosters. Surviving are: wife, Anne of Linden; daughter, Barbara and husband, Gregory Stafford of Pinckney; two sons, Michael Morton of Ft. Wayne, IN, John Morton and wife, Tricia of Columbia City, IN; brother, Matthew Morton of CA; sister, Barbara and husband, Wayne Dunning of Kingsley, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Harold, Aubrey, Charles, Robert, James, John, Walter and Ronald; sister, Geraldine.
