LEINEKE, Thomas D- Age 78, of Grand Blanc, died October 16, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 20, at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Pastor David Leineke officiating. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 2-8 PM at the funeral home. Thomas was born May 20, 1938 in Mesick, the son of Dennie and Bertha (Taylor) Leineke. He married Ardith Utter in Sterling on July 16, 1971. He began his career with General Motors in 1953 at Fisher Body in Flint and retired from GM Metal Fab in 1992. He served as a UAW committeeman. Thomas was a huge advocate for the United Auto Workers. He owned and operated Payne's Bar and ALTom Salvage in Lake City. Thomas was also a member of the Burton Eagles. He was an excellent mechanic and carpenter and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ardith; children, Tom (JoAnn), Joe, Chris (Diane), Mark (Lori), and Julie (Leineke) Charney; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; special niece, Cindy (Jeff) Monroe; special friend, Ron Konieczka; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
