LANTZY, Thomas W. (Tom) - Age 97, of Brighton, MI, formerly of Fenton, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, March 10, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton (The service will be live streamed and may be viewed directly below Thomas' obituary). Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Sunday from 4-7 PM and at church Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. A Resolution of Condolence Service will be held 6:30 PM at the funeral home, followed by a 4th Degree Chalice Service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to a charity of your choice or to the Fenton Knights of Columbus Council #7418, 514 Lincoln St, Fenton, MI 48430.
The son of Earl and Edith (Broyles) Lantzy, Tom was born August 23, 1927 in Greenwich, PA. He graduated from St. Vincent Scholastic in Latrobe, PA before entering the military, serving in the U.S. Army. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Tom attended St. Francis University in Loretto, PA, majoring in Accounting and Finance. He was employed as a financial analyst by General Motors in Ohio and Michigan for 32 years, settling in Fenton, MI in 1964.
Family was the most important thing to Tom. He married Mary Laverne Parrish on May 10, 1949 and was married for 68 years. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Elizabeth) Lantzy, Leroy (Cheryl) Lantzy, Dennis (Diane) Lantzy, Gregory (Ann) Lantzy, Diane (Mark) Mueller, Donna (Jeffrey) Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Jean Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers and sisters, Eleanor, Earl Jr. Joanne, Joseph and Robert.
His faith was also very important to Tom. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and one of the original members of the Knights of Columbus Council #7418 in Fenton. At times during his membership with the Knights of Columbus, Tom held the position of Financial Secretary and Grand Knight. He participated on numerous committees and charitable activities for both St. John's and the Knights.
