Thomas Kalfs

KALFS, Thomas William - age 80, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018. A memorial mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Fr. Todd Koenigsknect celebrant. The family will receive friends from 3 PM - 7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. The family will also receive friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contribution to the family. Thomas was born July 23, 1937 in Flint, the son of William B. and Louise Anna (Mochty) Kalfs. He married Janice Hawk on May 24, 1958. They resided in Flint most of his life and has lived in East Tawas since 2002. Thomas was a barber all his life. He was also employed with Buckler Beverage for 9 years. He was a devoted church member as a greeter and usher at Holy Family Catholic Church, an active member in the Knights-of-Columbus Council #2709 and volunteered in Spiritual Care at St Joseph Hospital all in East Tawas. Thomas enjoyed playing cards, board games, lawn jarts and was a devoted Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wing fan. His passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren celebrating birthdays, holidays and vacations together. Thomas has many relatives from the Mochty and Kalfs families residing near East Tawas. Surviving are: wife of 60 years, Janice; five children, Timothy D. (Terry) Kalfs, Thomas G. (Ellen) Kalfs, Ann Marie (Jim) Schneider, Patricia Mary (Tony) Alexander, and Robert S. (Tina) Kalfs; 13 grandchildren, Brent, Dayna, Ken (Drea), Christopher (Mckenzie), Lauren, Carly (Stephen), Bailey, Samantha, Bree, Braxton, Jack, Olivia and MacKenzie.
