Thomas James Dolehanty of Gaines, Michigan departed this world on June 21, 2024. One of eleven children of Clement and Doris Dolehanty, Tom was born on April 17, 1957. After graduating from Swartz Creek High School in 1975, he enlisted in the Navy’s nuclear propulsion program. Tom served on the USS Henry L. Stimson ballistic missile submarine, and the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. After his service in the Navy, Tom graduated from the University of Michigan, then worked for and retired from Delphi / A.C. Delco Electronics in Flint, Michigan. Tom had a passion for playing games, especially chess, winning the 1983 Michigan Open chess championship. To say he was a giver does not approach the depth of how much Tom gave. He spent the last 14 years of his life cruising the oceans with his close love Mary Stalvey. Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father, and siblings Michael, Martin and Daniel. He leaves behind siblings Gary (Barbara), Allen (Sandy), Joseph (Terry), Mary Bishop (Scott), Karen Henson, John (Mary Ann), and William (Angie), and many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on July 19, 2024 at the St. Mary St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Rd, Gaines, MI 48436. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the church on his behalf. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
