Thomas Allen Bentley, age 78, of Flint Township, died Sunday, October 6, 2024 at McLaren Flint. Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 N. Belford Rd. Holly. Visitation will be held 5-9PM Tuesday and from 10AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Those desiring may direct contributions to the family to help with the funeral.
Thomas was born on May 25, 1946 in Flint, the son of the late Robert and Verena (Hall) Bentley. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1969. Thomas and Beverly Mullin were united in marriage on February 21, 1970 in Flint. Sadly she preceded him in death on July 27, 2019. He was a member of the VFW and avid support of the Wounded Warriors Project. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, baseball, politics and Club Keno.
He is survived by his children: Robert (Valerie) Bentley, Matt (Mandy) Bentley, Sandy Bentley; grandchildren: Steven (Jena), Robert II (Chelsea), Michael; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Jayce, Paislee, Bailey and Robert III; sisters, Nancy Miller and Karen (Terry) Prime; and many nieces and nephews.
