ACKERMAN, Attorney Thomas E., age 78, of Fenton, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Genesys Convalescent Center, Grand Blanc. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Fr. Bosco Padamattummal celebrant. Visitation at the church will begin at 10AM Monday. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-8PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd. Fenton where a Vigil Service will be held at 4PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John GIFT Campaign . Thomas was born November 26, 1928 in Jackson the son of George and Annabelle (O'Connell) Ackerman. He married MaryLou McCabe in Dearborn on September 6, 1952.  Thomas attended Assumption High School in Windsor Canada, Wayne State University in Detroit and graduated from Detroit College of Law. He practiced law in Detroit, Saginaw and Flint. Thomas was a veteran of U.S. Marines, having served two tours of duty. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, MaryLou; 3 children, James Christopher Ackerman and wife Diane of Warren, Nancy Ann Hardy and husband James of Traverse City, Sally Jean Reed and husband John of Cape Coral, FL; 7 grandchildren, Thomas and MaryLou Hardy, Teresa, James, Brianna and David Ackerman, Chantel Reed; 2 sisters, DeEtta Chmielewski of Jackson, Elberta Hessemer of Clearwater, FL and sister-in-law, Betty Ackerman of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Donald and DeWitt; and sister, Guen. The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Genesys Convalescent Center and Hospice Care.
