Theresa Medonis

MEDONIS, Theresa 'Terri" Mikalina - Age 93, of Fenton, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully and was welcomed into heaven on January 9, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, January 13, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430 with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. A luncheon will follow Mass in the St. John Activity Center. The family will receive friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to St. John/ St. Vincent De Paul or Compassus. Arrangements by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. Theresa was born August 20, 1928 in Detroit, Mi., the daughter of John and Mikalina Zaliagiris, the youngest of 10 siblings. She graduated from Western High School June of 1945. Terri was an active member of the Knights of Lithuania where she met the love of her life, Raymond Medonis. They married October 21, 1950 at St. Anthony Church in Detroit. After raising 5 children they moved to Fenton in 1984 and enjoyed an active parish life together at St. John the Evangelist Church. Ray and Terri were sacristans and Funeral Committee helpers for 30 years, worked with St. Vincent De Paul and K of C functions. In addition, Terri was a parish money counter and volunteered for St. John School weekly Moola Moola. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Red Hats. Terri enjoyed her card groups with friends but mostly loved and was proud of being a grandma and great grandma. Left to cherish her memory are children, Kenneth Medonis, Kathleen (Tim) Szczepanski, Michael (Sue) Medonis and Robert (Kristi) Medonis; grandchildren, Paul (Adrienne) Medonis, Mark (Sokore) Medonis, Andy Medonis, Patrick Medonis, May Ellen Medonis, Annie Laurie Medonis, Matt (Kristen) Medonis, Michael (Lindsey) Medonis, Eric (Melanie) Szczepanski, Zach (Jordan) Szczepanski, Tyler Szczepanski, William Medonis, Faith (Elijah) Dixon, Ciana Medonis; great grandchildren, Noah Medonis, Ella and Evie Medonis, Margo Medonis, Ford, Ryder, and Theo Szczepanski; many loving nieces and nephews. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Julius; son, Raymond John; grandchildren, Kevin and Kacie Marie; brothers, Vito (Isabella) and Edward (Joan) Zaliagiris; sisters, Anne (Joseph) Hornyak, Helen (Tony) Smolek, Ruth (Jack) Krout.
