Theodore A. TAIPALUS

TAIPALUS, Theodore A. -- Age 86, of Flint, died January 25, 2010 at Durand Convalescent Center. Funeral services 11:30 AM Thursday, January 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday, and 10:30 until the time of service Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek or the Durand Convalescent Center. Ted was born October 10, 1923 in Gay, MI, the son of John and Senja (Erkilla) Taipalus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II. He had resided in Flint Township the past 60 years. He married Shirley Curnow on February 25, 1949 in Flint. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swartz Creek. He enjoyed church and singing with the Choralers together with his wife. He loved carpentry, making crafts, gardening, ice skating, hockey and all outdoor sports. Surviving are: wife Shirley; children, Debra and husband Mark Carlyle of Flint, Timothy and wife Tamara Taipalus of Flint, Randall Taipalus of Saginaw, Edward and wife Carmen Taipalus of Indiana; grandchildren, Carrie and husband John, Jason, Dustin, Adreana, Monica, Kendall, Meghan, Hailey, Brandy, Kellie and husband Ed,; great-granddaughters Brianna and Alyssa; several nieces and nephews.
