Terry Taebel

TAEBEL, Terry A - age 83 of Flushing, died August 16, 2022. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Monday, August 22, 2022, at West Court Street Church of God, 2920 W. Court St., Flint, MI 48503 with Minister Brad Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Liver Foundation (www.liverfoundation.org). Terry was born August 25, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the son of Albert and Mikki (Stone) Taebel. He grew up in Villa Park, IL and graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He then worked for Bell Labs in New Jersey, as part of his job there he received master’s degree from New York University, he also studied for a PhD but didn't complete the program. Terry moved to Flint in 1965 to teach at General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) where he taught Electrical Engineering for 15 years. He left teaching to open his own business, Minicomputer Systems to "practice what he preached". While running his business he also taught at University of Michigan Flint, Davenport University and Baker College. After selling his business, Terry worked at Universal Systems until accepting a position at ITT as a professor and the Engineering Department Head. Terry ended his career teaching part-time at Mott Community College and Delta College. Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Brooks-Taebel; two sons, Tim Taebel and Larry Brooks; two daughters, Karen (Billy) Czerkies and Patricia Thornton; four grandchildren, Coen, Emily, Sophie, and Chyenne; siblings, Tina Smith, and Tim (Marsha) Taebel. He is also survived by his fur babies. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert, and Mikki Taebel.
