Teresa "Terry" Standen

STANDEN, Teresa “Terry", age 69 and lifelong resident of Swartz Creek, passed away peacefully at home, with her family by her side, on August 15, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with Rev. Josh Kennedy officiating. Graveside committal prayers will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023 and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Teresa Lynn Ortman was born on May 24, 1954 in Owosso, Michigan to the late Carl H. and Eleanor J. (Guria) Ortman. She graduated from Swartz Creek High School and Owosso Beauty Academy before working as a hairdresser for nearly 50 years in Flint Township.  Terry served as the Treasurer for Ducks Unlimited's Swartz Creek Chapter for many years. She enjoyed raising labradors, gardening, golfing, and hunting. Terry loved being on the lake, boating and spending time with friends and family. She was a second Mom to many, and most kids knew her as “Aunt Terry.”  Most of all she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Mandy Lintz (Bob Chernock) of AZ and Tiffany (Ryan) Mysen of Holland; step-children, Mitchell (Katie) Standen of TN and Stacie Phillippi of CO; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Chloe, Olivia, and William; sister, Christine Kovalcik (Steve Streetman) of Swartz Creek; niece, Stacey (Josh) Kennedy and nephew, Benjamin (Brittany) Kovalcik and many beloved friends.
