GATES, Sylvia Renee - Age 36, of Flushing, died June 24, 2017. Funeral services will be held 4PM Friday June 30, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Visitation will be held 2 PM until the time of service Friday. Sylvia was born May 30, 1981 in Flint, the daughter of Donna Burnett. She married Benjamin Gates on October 22, 2005 in Burton. Sylvia was a graduate of Bendle High School. She also received her masters from Michigan State University in 2016. Sylvia was a Children's Clinical Therapist with Genesee Health Systems. She enjoyed spending time with family. Sylvia is survived by her husband, Benjamin; four children, Savonna Ortiz, Beyonce Gates, Ayngel and Amirra Gates; mother, Donna Martinez; siblings, Lilian (Steven) Mays; Mario Martinez, Jacob (Beanna) Martinez, Monica (Michael Malloy) Martinez, Sonya (Michael) Alipin; many nieces and nephews.
