Oseland, Suzanne Elyce (Sue) - Age 77, of Grand Blanc, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024.  Services will be held privately for Sue's family.  Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc. Those desiring may make contributions to The American Cancer Society.

Sue was born April 28, 1946 in Bay City, MI the daughter of Clifford Henry Guenther and Margaret Louise (Strachan) Guenther.  She attended Central Michigan University and it is there she met her future husband.  She married Arnold Richard Oseland on June 18, 1966; he preceded her in death on September 16, 2023 having been married 57 years.  She had resided in Grand Banc for the past 10 years, coming from Metamora.  Sue was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Goodrich.

Sue was an artistic person by nature.  Her gift was easily noticed through a variety of expressions.  Early in life she loved to paint natural scenery using watercolor.  Many of her paintings contained images of flowers, trees, fields, and seasonal landscapes.  Soon after moving to Metamora Sue's love of flowers started to be revealed through outdoor gardens.

Sue and Arnie lived most of their adult lives in Metamora, where their flower gardens, (filled most prominently with a variety of daylily and hosta plants) continued to grow.  Unique trees, beautiful lawn art, rock walls, and a scattering of ponds are just some of the things that could be found on their Boulder View Garden estate.  The pinnacle of their love of daylilies and hostas happened the Summer of 2002.  Their gardens were part of the American Daylily Society National Convention.  Luxury buses filled with people would arrive on schedule to be let off for viewing, conversation, and picture taking during one unforgettable weekend in July.

Sue's creativity was also expressed a bit later in life when she started her own custom jewelry business making necklaces, bracelets, earrings, anklets, and other creations using beads, crystals, natural stones, and other metals.  Sue held numerous jewelry parties and shows that were always well attended.  She entered a variety of summer events and festivals with much success.

She also loved Christmas the most of any holiday.  Her passion for Christmas decorating (especially her collection of Santas) was obvious.  The house in Metamora would frequently have ten or more Christmas trees situated throughout.  The most unique tree was made to appear hung upside down from the ceiling having been adorned with a variety of crystal-like ornaments and white lights.  To the beholder, the image of this upside-down tree could only be perceived as an enormous crystal chandelier hanging decoratively from the ceiling.  Sue always decorated big out of love of Christmas, but even more so out of love of sharing with others.  The Christmas parties were unrivaled.  People were always welcome, and she was a wonderful hostess.

Throughout her life, Sue also loved cross stitching, playing games and cards, cooking, baking, traveling, watching movies, and more than anything, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Michelle) Oseland of Fenton, Robert (Kris) Oseland of Brighton; siblings, Mill (Al) Long of Harrison, Sally (Jim) Eichorn of Alma, Dr. Fred (Diane) Guenther of Big Rapids; grandchildren, Jacquie, Cliff, Rikelle, Alexandria, and Nate; many nieces and nephews. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Margaret Guenther; husband, Arnold Richard Oseland. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
