Susan Myers

Loving companion, avid scuba diver, registered nurse, lover of animals and world traveler. Susan passed away on May 20, 2023. She was a beautiful bundle of energy, and the room always became a little more alive once she entered it. Susan loved to laugh, loved to listen, and was never shy about displaying her oratory skills and occasionally offered her own thoughts. She loved being near or in the ocean and became an accomplished scuba diver and an excellent amateur underwater photographer. She battled Type I diabetes for the last 60 of her 67 years with us. When Sue was diagnosed with diabetes, at the age of seven, her mother Rosie learned all she could to help Susan to survive. Susan kept this drive, and managed to battle the disease, not let it define her and to live a full life. Susan graduated from Carman HS in 1974 and Mott Community College of Nursing in 1986. She retired from Hurley Medical Center where she spent most of her career as a neonatal intensive care nurse. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Jerry A. Myers. Her brother Victor O. Mead and his family. Cousin/"sister" Stacia Hipkins Brown, Cousin Jeffrey Hipkins and wife Sherrie, And friends across the globe.
Susan was preceded by her loving parents Rosie and Jim Mead.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's name to the East Michigan Food Bank
