ZOFCHAK, Steven - Age 87, of Flushing, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, 233 N. Elms Rd., Flint with Father David A. Hannes celebrant. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Monday, 1-3 & 5-8PM Tuesday, with a Parastas 7pm Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will also receive visitors at the church from 9AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. Mr. Zofchak was born January 9, 1922 in Flint the son of Michael and Elizabeth (Lazar) Zofchak. He married Eleanor Jelinek September 15, 1945 in Flint. He proudly served as Staff Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Zofchak retired in 1979 from Buick City after 39 years. He was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, American Foundrymen's Association and Patternmaker's League. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Flushing; 4 children, Paul and wife Diane Zofchak of Clio, Gary and wife Diane Zofchak of Sebewaing, Christine and husband Byron of Republic, WA, Stephanie and husband Stuart of Byron; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Patrick Zofchak; 2 brothers, George and John Zofchak; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Bialkowski and Anna Monville.
