Spodney, Steven Robert - Age 47, of Corunna, died December 12, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Owosso. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday December 17 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek, Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday December 16 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and 10-11 AM Friday December 17 at the church prior to the service.
Steven was born December 13, 1973 in Flint the youngest of the late Stevenson "Bud" Spodney Jr. and Carol (Wesley) Spodney. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School in 1992 where he played football and baseball. In 1991 Steven was named as 2nd team Big 9 All Conference, offensive tackle. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1996 . Steven was a health inspector and currently worked for the Ingham County Health Department. He married Molly Brewer at Flint Central Church of the Nazarene on July 14, 2007. In 2010 they welcomed Samantha Marie. His greatest joy was watching his daughter Samantha grow up and begin to participate in many different activities at school. Steven was an avid sports fan. He especially loved the Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Red Wings. The family room in his home proudly displays his love of these teams. He even had the privilege of going to the 2013 Big 10 Championship game to watch his beloved Spartans beat the Ohio State Buckeyes. Steven enjoyed camping, spending time with his family and quiet time at home in his favorite chair. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree. Steven is survived by his wife of 14 years, Molly; daughter Samantha; sister Laura (Tom) Sylvester; brothers Greg, Matt, and Neil; niece and nephew/god-son, Peyton and Austin Spodney; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walt and Robyn Brewer; aunt Helen Cookingham; uncle Dean Wesley; his faithful canine companion Izzo; cousins and many good friends who will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents Stevenson (3/18/1996) and Carol (10/17/2021); grandparents, Lloyd and Marie Wesley, Stevenson Spodney Sr. and Geri Spodney.
