Steven Shumaker

SHUMAKER, Steven Paul - Age 49, of Swartz Creek, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Public visitation will take place Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 12 PM to 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Graveside committal service will take place 1 PM, Friday, August 14, 2020 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Due to many restrictions, family is asking that no flowers be given. Those desiring may make contributions to the United Way of Genesee County, the Fred and Phyllis Pajtas Theater or the Swartz Creek-Perkins Library.

Steven was born on April 12, 1971 in Flint, the son of Michael and Phyllis (Spaniola) Shumaker. He lived in Swartz Creek his whole life and graduated from Swartz Creek High School, class of 1989. Steven graduated from University of Michigan - Flint with his Bachelor's degree. He worked as an accountant for the Jewish Federation and United Way. In his free time, he enjoyed politics, history, genealogy, board games, card games and attending his nieces and nephews extracurricular activities.

He is survived by his brother and 3 sisters, Mike (Sherrill) Shumaker, Bethany Kachel, Pam Shumaker and Joanne DeVore. "Uncle Steve" will be missed by his 5 nieces and 2 nephews, Katie, Emily, Trevor, Allison, Abby, Lauren and Tyler. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Phyllis Shumaker.
