Steven Schaeffer

Steven James Schaeffer, age 79, of Swartz Creek passed peacefully at home on Thursday, December 15, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 3PM-7 PM at Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Online condolences can be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or Michigan Parkinson Foundation.

Steve was born on March 7, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earl and Alma (Stejr) Schaeffer. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1961 and continued his education at Mott Community College where he earned an associate degree in business. Steve married the love of his life Sally Nowlin on March 21, 1963, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He retired in 1998 from Buick Motor Division/EDS where he specialized in data processing.

Steve and Sally enjoyed many adventures throughout their 59-year marriage. This included traveling all over the U.S.A., stopping at most casinos and many golf courses along the way, as well as, visiting many foreign countries. Once Steve retired, they spent their winters in Vero Beach, Florida and Casa Grande, Arizona. They also spent many Michigan summers up north at Leelanau Pines Campground. Steve enjoyed golf, poker, fishing, and hunting, but above all, Steve’s favorite thing was spending time and making memories with his family.

He is survived by his LOVING wife, Sally; his four WONDERFUL daughters, Kimberly (John) Welch, Kristina Brown (Michael Compton), Karalyn Schaeffer, and Kellie (Rick) Wilson; the six BESTEST grandkids, Matthew, Ashley, Nicholas, Kourtney, Bryson, Maya, and his nephew David. Steve also had many close friends, especially his partner in crime, Dick Shedd.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Earl Schaeffer Jr.
