HOLMGREN, Steven Allen - Age 51, of Garden City, formerly of Swartz Creek and Fenton, died suddenly of heart failure at his home, Tuesday, October 19, 2004. Â Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, Dr. Jerry Pitman officiating. Â Burial in Tyrone Memory Gardens. Â Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7-9 PM Thursday, and 2-5 and 7-9 PM Friday. Â Contributions may be made to Salvation Army or Grace, Inc., 229 S. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430. Â Steven was born August 13, 1953, the son of James and Amanda L. (Howell) Holmgren of Fenton. Â He was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School in 1972, where he participated in football for 4 years and wrestled for 3 years. Â He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1977 with a bachelors degree, while attending WMU he wrestled for the WMU Broncos. Â He received a Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan in 1988. Â Steven was a loving father of his two children Kristen Rose and Timothy James; 'a great dad, adored by his children'. Â He enjoyed spending time with his children, camping, vacationing, and attending sporting events throughout the United States. Â Steven began his teaching career over 20 years ago in the Taylor School District and the last several years at West Junior High. Â He was a Physical Education teacher, enjoyed the challenges of his job along with the students that he taught. Â Surviving are: daughter, Kristen Rose, 12; son Timothy James, 10, and their mother, Sue of Garden City; parents, James and Amanda Holmgren of Fenton, brother, Jeff Holmgren of West Bloomfield, Scott Holmgren of Rochester Hills, Kevin and wife Kerry Holmgren; and their children Paige, Jayce and Bryce of Linden; aunt, Bess and husband Jerry Kirkland of Taylor and many cousins.
