MAKRANYI, Steve Adam -- Age 91, of Flint, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Brians House Hospice, Davison. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, June 17, 2006 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Ave., Flint, Monsignor Richard Groshek and Fr. Steve Makranyi celebrants. Family and friends will gather at the church after 10 AM Saturday. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, and 1-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, with a 7:30 PM Vigil service Friday evening. Those desiring may make contributions to Brians House or Catholic Social Services. Mr. Makranyi was born April 27, 1915 in Flint the son of Steve and Julia (Buhos) Makranyi and he had resided in Flint his entire life. He was married to Helen Theresa Kovalcsik on June 21, 1941 in Flint. Mr. Makranyi retired from A.C. Spark Plug in 1977 with 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was among the top Blood Donors in Genesee County. Surviving are: wife of 65 years Helen; four children, Fr. Steve Makranyi, George (Dorothy) Makranyi, Ann (Larry) Schutt, Susan (Paul) Brown, all of Flint; nine grandchildren, George Jr., Steven, Lisa, Theresa, Anthony, Bethany, Amy, Kathryn, Jeffrey; 10 great-grandchildren, Rolecia, Jordy, Maeson, Grayson, Jamal, Matyas, Joseph, Alexander, Nikolas, Matthew; four sisters, Elizabeth Sutliff of Corunna, Margaret Lucky of Flint, Anna Kosa of Flint, Helen Kovalcsik of Swartz Creek ; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Makranyi was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and John; and sister, Julia Fogel.
