Steve Landers

LANDERS, Steve - Age 45, of White Lake, formerly of Hartland, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023. Steve was born on March 24th, 1978, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Steven Arnold Landers and Kathleen Angela Keenan. Steve joined the U.S. Army in November of 1999, where he served as a PV1 in the 1st Infantry Division. He was last stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany where he completed his service in 2002. Steve worked for over 20 years as a gifted carpenter and enjoyed custom woodworking and design. He was one of the best at building staircases, especially spiral staircases that required custom bending of the handrails, along with custom build-ins, and more. Steve met his wife Toni in 2010 at her work where he was doing contracted carpentry work. They became friends and started dating in 2011. After many years of love, laughter, and life’s adventures, they were married on June 18th, 2022. Steve was a wonderful, devoted husband, making every day memorable. Whether it was traveling the state, trying new restaurants, ice fishing or just a quiet night at home, their time together was always cherished. Together Toni and Steve had 2 dogs that he adored, Moose and Durango. Steve rescued Moose when she was a young pup, and they were the best of friends and inseparable. He enjoyed taking Moose anywhere she could go with him, and on weekends they loved taking her to Lutz Farm in Byron where she loves to run the trails. Steve had an amazing spirit and strived to make everyone he met smile. He was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need and was a very loyal friend to those around him. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Toni; sister, Kylee Carpenter; brother, Jon Landers; loving family, Frank and Shari Viola, and Melissa Bowman; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends; and his dogs, Moose and Durango. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. 

A Military Service with Honors will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly. A celebration of life will follow the service at the American Legion of Holly, 408 S Saginaw St, Holly. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family are appreciated.
