WATKINS, Stephen D. - age 59, of Englewood, FL., found peace after a brief but valiant battle with colon cancer. He died at Venice Regional Medical Center (Venice, FL) at 2:00 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2005. Funeral services will be held at Sharp Funeral Home in Swartz Creek on Friday, April 8, 2005, at 1:00 PM. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. He was a partner of Watkins & Himelhoch, Inc., a precast concrete company in Burton, MI. He retired in 2001, with his partner and friend, Ted Himelhoch. Steve loved life, his home, his family and hard work. He was a man of strength and loyalty, compassion and generosity. He was an excellent listener. Steve treated everyone with respect. He was a man who was courteous and caring to all--equally. Mr. Watkins was born in Flint, MI on July 6, 1945. He attended Flushing High School. He is a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Flushing Rifle and Pistol Club and an NRA Certified Instructor. He was a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group and a member of the Port Huron (Michigan) Chapter for many years. Surviving are wife Sarah Watkins, children Pam (Andy) Ellard of Flint, MI, David (Denise) Watkins of Burton, MI, and Jennifer Grambush of Atlanta, GA, and five grandchildren.
