Stanley A. Wiens, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024. Born on November 8, 1928, near Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Anna Wiens, Stan moved with his family to Flint, Michigan in 1935, where he would spend the next 46 years of his life. Stan dedicated 29 years to serving the community as a Flint Fireman, retiring at the age of 52 as Battalion Chief. Following his retirement in 1981, he moved to Florida, where he enjoyed his remaining years in warmth and company of friends and family. Stan was a beloved husband, first to Bonnie M. Sumpter, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years until her passing, and then to Lois Gould, with whom he celebrated 25 years of marriage. His life was enriched by his four children, Debi Olivo (Jesse), the late Colleen Fader (Larry), Greg Wiens (Mary Kay Anderson), and Ron Wiens (Sandy Barbier). He was a cherished grandfather to Brent Fader, Landra Ireland, Chett Fader, Dene Pifer, Jenni Miller, Jamie Vandesteen, Jessica Tinnin, Samantha Wiens-Wice, Jordan Wiens, Erin Southards, and Colin Wiens. Stan also took great joy in his role as a great-grandfather to 30 great-grandchildren. Stan also embraced his stepchildren, Karen Smith (Lyall), Laurie Albanese (Gary), and the late Kimberly Baer (Darrell), along with step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Smith and Brianna DiVito. Stan's life was marked by a profound commitment to his community, a deep love for his family, and a steadfast faith in God. He loved playing the piano and signing songs from the hymnal. He also celebrated his love for music and the church by playing a variety of instruments and singing in church and community choirs. He will be remembered for his dedication, humor, and the strength of his character. A memorial gathering will be held 2-5 PM Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473.
