Sondra Higgins

HIGGINS, Sondra Rita (Bernardi)- Age 75, of Flint, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint.  Burial immediately following at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Wednesday. Sondra was born Dec. 23, 1932, the only child of Roger Robert Bernardi and Olivia Rita Bombard.  Sondra was a member of the Republican Party and served as a State Delegate in 1984 and 1988.  She worked in the legal field for over 20 years and was employed briefly for the Harold Examiner before retiring from McDonald Douglas in Long Beach, CA.  She also worked for the US Navy for 3 years in Chicago, IL before retiring.  Sondra is survived by the love of her life Robert Howard O'Higgins; sons, Gregory Roger Higgins, Robert Howard Higgins II; daughters, Karen Rita Sanborn and husband Fred Leslie Sanborn III, Jennifer Kelly Higgins-Meshulam and husband Shalom Itzhak Meshulam; son-in-law, Peter Lynn Poggiali;  grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Amanda, Greg Higgins II, Ryan Brady,  Alexis Sophia Poggiali, Sondra (Sunny-Dee), Chrisi, Kayla De La Torre, Rita Sanborn, Rori Higgins and husband Rick, Robert Howard Higgins III, Stephanie Chen and husband Miguel, Laura Speirs, Brandon Speirs, Samantha Ari Meshulam, Olivia Elizabeth Meshulam and 10 great grandchildren.  Along with the other children she sponsored through World Vision, and a host of friends and relatives.  Sondra is preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Robin Marlene Higgens-Poggiali, Laura Higgins and friend, Marilyn Williams.  Sondra touched the lives of everyone she met and will be missed.  Online condolences and tributes may be posted on the Obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
