Simone Brier

BRIER, Simone Eva- Age 98, died December 9, 2017. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10AM Saturday, December 16 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint. Fr. Steven Makranyi Celebrant. Burial at Flint Memorial Park, Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2 PM - 4PM and 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 9 AM until time of mass Saturday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Medical Team Hospice. Simone was born on 4/16/1919 in Haywood, Manitoba, Canada to Joseph and Marie Anne (Gagnon) Bergeron. She married Lavern A. Brier in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 4, 1949. She resided in Flint Township and retired from Kroger as a meat clerk after 21 years. She spent the winter months in the Rio Grand Valley, Texas and the summer months in Flint. She volunteered at PSJA School in Texas teaching English to students. She was an oil painting artist and enjoyed knitting, golf and fishing. Surviving are son, Wayne (Carol) Brier; daughter-in-law, Diane Brier; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lucien Bergeron, Leo Bergeron, Therese Viel Faure and Juliette Des Lauriers; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Brier; three sons, Russell, Glen and Gary Brier; daughter-in-law, Marie Brier and eight siblings.
