Sidney VanSlyke

VAN SLYKE,   Sidney, age 68 of Flint, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at home.  He was born in Flint on January 17, 1938 the son of Melvin and Irene (Trevarrow) Van Slyke and has lived in the Flint area all his life.  He and Catherine Stone were married in Flint in 1970.  Mr. Van Slyke was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Buick Motor Division in 2001 after 42 years of service.  He enjoyed fishing and golf.  Surviving is his wife, Catherine, two sons;  Sidney and wife Stephanie Van Slyke of Traverse City and Ransom Van Slyke of Flint.  Also surviving is a sister, Torrey and two brothers;  Phil and Danny. A memorial service to remember and celebrate his life will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Sharp Funeral Home Miller Rd. Chapel,8138 Miller Rd. Swartz Creek.  Chaplain Hank Messing will officate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 Noon Saturday until the service.  Memorial contributions in his name may be offered to the American Heart Association.
