SWANSON, Shirley Y., age 73 of Flint, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Brian's House, Davison. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, August 18, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Deacon Bill Storm officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Humane Society of Genesee County. Shirley was born May 26, 1935 in Flint the daughter of the late James Horvath and Madeline Smith. She married Robert Swanson on October 11, 1963 and he preceded her in death on April 30, 2004. She was a 1963 graduate of Northern High School and achieved her Associates Degree from Flint Junior College. Shirley was employed by Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement in 1992 and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flint. Surviving are her 2 sons, Rob Swanson of Gaines, Mike Swanson (Cynthia McNamara) of Burton; 5 grandchildren, Mariah Keener, Halie Swanson, Brandon Harris, Bailee and Blake McNamara; aunt, Janice Lyon Of Davison and her loving cat, Twinkie.
