Shirley H. STONE

June 27, 1917 — September 9, 2011

STONE, Shirley H. - Age 94, of Grand Blanc, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 with her granddaughter and grandson-in-law by her side. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army, Genesee County Humane Society or National Wild Life Federation. Shirley was born June 27, 1917 in Ashland, WI, the daughter of John Joseph and Clarice Adelle Haupert. She spent summer in Sault Ste. Marie and winters in Miami, the best of both worlds in her younger days with her two loving parents, thereafter a resident of the Flint and Grand Blanc area. Shirley attended Flint Junior College, worked at Burdine's and was a Charter Member of the first organized Modeling Agency in Miami. She was married to Jack C. Stone on August 25, 1944. Mrs. Stone was employed by Marge Sealy, who sold to Lona Fox Duckwitz and by Smith-Bridgman's. She started Village Green Antiques in 1975 and did 15 shows yearly. Shirley was the president of the Anti-Fluoridation Group in the Flint Area, served on the boards of Red Feather as Captain, International Institute of Flint and Planned Parenthood. She was a member of Warwick Hills Country Club. She was supportive of many organizations including, Mott College, Flint Institute of Art, Salvation Army, Purple Heart, Humane Society, CARE and National Wild Life Federation. She loved all 14 of her dogs she had throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen H. Gomez and husband, Jack C. Stone; parents; brother, John Haupert Jr. She is survived by her granddaughter, Rev. Shirley (Sha-Sha) Gomez and grandson-in-law, Tim Olivo.
