Shirley Conlin Smith, age 90, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Shirley was born in Chicago IL to Marcella and Stanley Cathcart. She recently lived in Lennon MI after residing most of her life in St. Joseph MI. Shirley passed away peacefully surrounded by her children in the home of her daughter Mary Julian.
After working several years at Memorial Hospital as a Nursing Assistant, she was educated as a Hearing & Vision Technician. Shirley then worked for over two decades at the Berrien County Health Department. She was also a volunteer at Birthright, was a longtime Relay for Life team member, and was an Extraordinary Minister at St. Bernards Catholic Church.
Shirley was a faithful and loving mother to her 9 children: Michael Conlin, Patrick Conlin, John Conlin, Laura (Mike) Bradley, Frances (Joseph) Kim, Sally (Chris) Kauffman, Katie Flowers, Mary (Gene Langlois) Julian, and Jeanne (Frank) Briggs. Shirley was also dedicated to her 29 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren and beloved by her amazing best friends Betty Pries and Dawn Paraino, whom she cherished.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 3PM until 6PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. followed by a rosary service at 6PM. Mass of Christian burial celebrated at St. Bernards Catholic church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
