MEIER, Shirley M., age 91, of Fenton, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at home. Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday, August 10, 2007 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy St., Fenton., Â Rev. E. Taveirne officiating. Â Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 4-9PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Fenton United Methodist Church. Shirley was born April 30, 1916 in Bancroft the daughter of Adelbert and Margaret (McQuaig) Morgan. She married Owen C. Meier in Bancroft on November 21, 1939. Shirley was employed by Fenton High School as a library secretary for 18 years until her retirement in 1995. She sang in the choir and was involved in the Peace Circle Group at Fenton United Methodist Church. Shirley was an excellent homemaker, a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Owen; 3 children, Sally Crawford and husband Harlow of Clio, Vicki Schill and husband Harry of Flint, Thomas Meier and wife Carolyn of Caledonia; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her fox terrier, Foxy. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Anita and Hazel and infant sister, Deruha. The family extends great appreciation to the staff at Genesys Hospice, Marty Minnock at Heartland Hospice and Gayle and Jo-Ann at the Valley Area on Aging.
