Sharon Kathleen Scheer (neé Zantop) passed away on January 24, 2025, at age 82. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Sharon’s life was defined by generosity, deep devotion to family, and unwavering faith.
Sharon was the beloved matriarch of her family - mom, grandma, and great-grandma - affectionately called “Gma” by her grandchildren, with whom she shared a special bond. She dedicated over 40 years of her life to nursing, embodying care and compassion to her patients. A devout Catholic and proud Irishwoman, she also loved cheering for University of Michigan athletic teams.
Sharon was predeceased by her loving parents, Richard and Sheila Zantop. She leaves behind her devoted children: Krissy Scheer, John Scheer (Christy), Jen Kushak (Chase), and Jeff Scheer. She took immense pride in her cherished grandchildren - Brittany (Sammy), Katelyn (Kasper), and Anna (Phil) Halldorson; Alexis and Mitchell Scheer; Sydney and Brooke Kushak; and Cooper Scheer - and adored her great-grandchildren: Magnus, Arabella, Levi, Wilhelm, Harry, and Ace. Sharon is also survived by her six brothers: Dave (Barb), Dan (Karen), Kevin (Marion), Patrick, Rick, and Joe, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
A Catholic memorial mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, 1227 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, Michigan, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 1 PM. A separate celebration of Sharon’s life will take place in Jackson, Michigan, in the summer of 2025, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation at https://www.macular.org.
