Sharon Elaine LaForest

LaFOREST, Sharon Elaine - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek.  Chaplain Rex Ray Dela Peret officiating.  Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc.  Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday  and  1PM Thursday until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  

Sharon was born June 2, 1940 in Owosso, MI, the daughter of Michael and Anastasia (Ligas) Zvonek.  She was a1958 graduate of Flint Central High School. She married Richard J. LaForest March 7, 1958 in Flint and he preceded her in death October 28, 1988.  She had resided in Swartz Creek since 1963 coming from Grand Blanc/Flint.  Sharon was employed as a Pari-Mutuel Teller for the Swartz Creek Horse Track for 20 years.  She also sold Avon and was volunteer for the Genesee County Sheriff Department.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing bingo, going to the casino's as well as playing the lottery.  

Surviving are: her children, Julie (Mark) Byerlay of Swartz Creek and Michael (Lynda Kelley) LaForest of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Joseph Michael LaForest of Flint, Kayli Byerlay of Swartz Creek and Hanna LaForest of Flint; brother, Marty (Pat) Walden of Grand Blanc; and nephews, Troy Walden of Grand Blanc and Jason (Jenny) Walden and their children, Silar and Anna of Grand Blanc.
