Sgt. Yachanin

YACHANIN, Sgt. Michael S. - Age 34, passed away October 6, 2017 in The Netherlands. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Riverdale Baptist Church, 5151 Calkins Rd., Flint. Pastor Josh Gates will officiate. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10 AM until the time of service Thursday at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Celtic Arts Foundation, of which Michael was affiliated as a bagpiper. Michael was born January 15, 1983 in Groton, CT. Sgt. Yachanin was serving in US Army, stationed in The Netherlands. He was an Army Chaplain Assistant and served a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2014. Michael married his college crush, Jennifer, in 2015 and together they loved traveling the world. He was a talented musician and bagpiper. He had been a member of the Jefferson Pipe Band in Medford, OR. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; parents, Edward and Ladessa Yachanin; brother, David Yachanin; sisters, Andrea (Josh) Gates and Kara (Michael) Dimick; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.
