Santos Sermeno, Age 91, of Genesee County, Michigan, passed away, surrounded by family, on January 25, 2022, after a long and well-lived life. Funeral mass will be celebrated 12 PM Wednesday, February 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 2316 Coldwater Rd. Flint. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 3-8 PM Tuesday February 1 where the rosary will be prayed at 7 PM at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc; and from 11 AM Wednesday February 2 until the time of the mass at church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Luna-Martes Food Pantry.
Santos, born in Mission, Texas on April 14, 1930, lived a life of service. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and was a devoted member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Flint, Michigan for most of his life. He volunteered at the Luna-Martes food pantry and many other organizations over the years. Santos served on the board at the Hispanic Technology Center and was a proud and active UAW member for 60+ years and recipient of the Walter Reuther Distinguished Service Award.
Santos was preceded in death by his spouse Jeanette, parents Natividad and Florentino, and his sisters Luz, Juanita, Victoria, and Nieves. He is survived by his brother Arturo (Rosalinda) Sermeno, sister Maria (Reymundo) Vargas, three children Carmen (Randy) Watkins, Marcos (Kimberly) Sermeno, and Linda Ford, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
