Sandra Hopton

HOPTON, Sandra L. (Wieland) - age 81 of Gaines, MI was called home to Heaven on March 10, 2023, surrounded by her family after a long illness. Sandra was born in Bay City, MI on April 19, 1941, the daughter of the late Harvey and Hannah (Schoenbine) Wieland. She married the love of her life, Ronald Hopton, on November 5, 1960. She was the matriarch of her family. Sandra loved spending time with her family, she adored and loved them all deeply. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Holiday Rambler Travel Club for over 50 years. Sandra was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking and baking (just to name a few, she made the best chocolate chip cookies and German chocolate cake). She was an extraordinary home decorator and an articulate domestic engineer. Her greatest achievement in life was being a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory: husband, Ronald; daughter, April Williamson; son, Robert Hopton and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Jason Williamson and wife, Julie, Joshua Williamson, and Brandon Hopton; great-grandchildren, Ruth and Penelope Williamson; brothers, Charles and Mike Wieland; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Herman, Carolyn Roe, and Betty Hopton; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter and angel, Barbara; her mother and father-in-law, Maud (Mobley) and John Hopton, sister, Dorothy Lehman, sisters-in-law, Sandra Wieland and Irene Wieland; brothers-in-law, Denzel Hopton and his wife, Dorothy, Richard Hopton, and Sam Roe. At the request of Sandra, cremation has taken place. The immediate family will have a private celebration of life and no public service will be held.
