Farah, Sam W., age 94, of Flint, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Holly Convalescent Center, Holly, were he received excellent care for the past three years. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. A memorial service will be held in the spring 2012 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Holly Convalescent Center. Sam was born December 7, 1917 in Brooklyn NY, the son of the late Wadie W. and Harmaney (Farah) Farah. Sam graduated from Manual Training High School, Brooklyn NY in 1936. He moved to Flint in 1938 with his family and was an active member of the Methodist church all of his life until his illness. Sam enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and was in the 94th Infantry Division in the European Invasion receiving an honorable discharge in 1944 along with the following citations: The American Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. After his discharge form the Army, Sam worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Flint until his retirement. Sam enjoyed lawn bowling and won serveral trophies competing in leagues in Michigan, other states, and Canada. His other interests were mountain climbing in Vermont, reading, photography and listening to classical music. Surviving are; borther, Victor Farah of Ballwin MO; sister Evelyn Lapham of Battle Creek, and nieces and nephews. Mr. Farah is preceded in death also by his sister Julia (Farah) DeLong Geiser, brothers Lewis (Jane and Anne Farah) and Albert Farah, brothers-in-law Henry DeLong, Henry Geiser, Harry Lapham and sisters-in-law Jane Farah, Anne Farah, Yvette Farah, and Gloria Farah.
