Salvatore "Sam" Cosentino

COSENTINO, Salvatore "Sam" J. - age 93, of Fenton, formerly of Allen Park, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 9, 2021. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd. Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM Thursday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association. Sam was born February 27, 1928 in Detroit, the son of Salvatore and Antonietta (Rinchiuso) Cosentino. He married Angeline "Nancy" O'Shea on June 1, 1957. Sam owned a barber shop in the Fisher Building in Detroit and later moved to Birmingham where he owned and operated Merrillwood Barber Salon. He was very active in his Italian culture serving in various roles in the Downriver Italian American Club and the Italian Cultural Center in Warren. Sam will be remembered for his love of his family, his beautiful garden, wine making and Italian cooking. Surviving are: loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Cosentino; four children, Ann Marie (David) Scharf of Fenton, Antoinette (Michael) Peterson of Hartland, Michael (Amy) Cosentino of Rochester, and Noreen (Thomas) Battaglia of Fenton; 11 grandchildren, Daniel (Jess), Jacob, Bryan, Stephanie, Laura (fiance, Alex),, Christina, Megan, Emily, Olivia, and Luke; brother, Vincent Cosentino; sister, Rosalie Sciturro; niece, Jolie (David) Whiteman.
