SZIGETY, Sally Lou - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, August 29, 2021. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Brian Kelley officiating. ( A live stream of the service will be available on Sally's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 2-9 PM where an AmVets Auxiliary Post 3720 Service will be held at 7:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Sally was born March 7, 1930 in Mt. Morris. She married Louis Szigety and he preceded her in death in 1999. She had resided in Swartz Creek since 1973 coming from Flint. She retired from Pre-Fit Door in Flint after 30 years of service. Sally joined the Swartz Creek V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3720 in 1968 where she served as Secretary for the organization. She joined the Cooties (The Honor Degree of the V.F.W.) and was elected the Grand President of Michigan in 1984-85. She joined the DAV, and has been a Life Member since 1975 where she held positions of both Secretary and Treasurer. Sally also joined the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary in 2002 under her husband Louie and she held the office of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Chaplin. She collected money for the Women's Hamburger Night until March of 2020 and she also volunteered her time working local elections. She enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are: her children, Gary (Karen) Pray of Grand Blanc and Susan Silverthorn of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Brian Warren, Brenda Cruthers, Kristin (Perry) Green, Casey Silverthorn, Tyler Silverthorn, Troy (fiancee' Amanda) Silverthorn, Katie (fiancee' Joe) Silverthorn, Kellie (Mark) Everett, and Krista Pray; 11 great-grandchildren; special niece, Sheila Schoof of Swartz Creek and several other nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Pray; grandson, Bruce Schluckbier; sister, Ann Schoof and 4 other siblings. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
