Ruth Elaine SMITH

SMITH, Ruth Elaine - Age 82, of Swartz Creek/Mundy Township, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Rev. Hal Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 1-9 PM. A V.F.W. Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to South Mundy United Methodist Church or Loose Senior Center Building Fund. Ruth was born October 10, 1929 in Swartz Creek, the daughter of John Ray and Rhesa Ethel (Spillane) Alexander. She married Albert "Ray" Smith March 24, 1949 in Flint and he preceded her in death October 23, 2008. She had resided in Swartz Creek/Mundy Township since 1953. Ruth was a member of South Mundy United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Fenton V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #3243. She also was a member of the Red Hats, TOPS and was a volunteer at the Loose Senior Center. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are: 3 children, Allan Roger Smith and wife Cindy of Lowell, Roseann Gabrielson and husband Carl of Fenton and Scott L. Smith and wife Madeline of Matthews, NC; 10 grandchildren, Cinnamon (Josh), Angela (Angelo), Ginger, Carl Albert, Andrea, Matthew, Steven, Kevin, Todd and Chris; 9 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Viola Hobolth and husband Carl of Fowlerville, Rose Carnes of Linden, Rhesa Watrous and husband Tom of Linden and Judy Parsons and husband Jerry of Swartz Creek; 3 brothers, John Alexander and wife Joann of Durand, Bob Alexander of Swartz Creek and Ted Alexander and wife Ellen of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews.
