Ruth D. Prouse

PROUSE, Ruth D. - age 97, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. Services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. JD Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Bendle Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Monday and 1-4 & 5-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Ruth was born November 14, 1913 in Flint, the daughter of Harry and Rose (Gainer) Osborne. She was the valedictorian of the Mary Crapo (Swartz Creek) High School Class of 1931 and graduated from Baker Business University in 1932. Ruth studied piano at Baker Conservatory of Music and lived in Swartz Creek since 1920. She worked at Guaranty Title & Mortgage Co. in the Abstract Dept. and had taught piano for many years. Ruth married Romilly H. Prouse on August 8, 1937. She was a member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Administrative Board. Ruth was also a past member of the Flint Music Teachers Association. Surviving are: children, Rosalind Hamady of Flint Twp and Robert Prouse of New York City; grandchildren, Jamal (David) Lucky, James (Tena) Hamady, Sacha (Marc) Uelmen, and Adam Prouse; great grandchildren, Paul, Mitchell, Morgan, Carson, Aaron, and Nathan.
