Ruth Penoskie

PENOSKIE, Ruth Marie - Age 97, of Mundy Township, died Saturday, December 19, 2020. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12PM Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3139 Hogarth Ave, Flint, MI 48532, with Father Anthony Strouse celebrant. Visitation will be held 3:30-8PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and Tuesday, 11AM until time of service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or charity of ones choice.
Ruth was born May 11, 1923 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Charles and Emily (Arnold) Ashby.She was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School. Ruth married Paul Penoskie in Flint October 14, 1944; he preceded her in death December 13, 2001. She was an office worker at Chevrolet for 10 years. She then worked as a secretary and librarian for Carman Ainsworth Schools, working at Hoover Mandeville and Rankin Schools, retiring in 1986. Ruth was a member of  St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a member of The Industrial Business Women's Association. She was a member of the Wagon Wheels Holiday Rambler Trailer Club and Modern Pioneers. For 52 years Ruth was a member of Rankin Handy Hands and a 50 year member of Bunko Club. She enjoyed traveling, seeing all 50 states, 59 Countries, and all provinces in Canada except British Columbia. Surviving are: daughter, Joanne Shrigley of Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Catherine (Bert) Turner of Florence, SC; grandson, William Shrigley of Mooresville, NC; great-grand-children, Brock Shrigley and Eleanor Turner; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Charles Ashby and Emily Ashby; step mother, Lois Ashby; sisters, Fredda Ashby and Verda Zoller; brother, William Ashby; son-in-law, Michael Shrigley.
