Ruth Iris McMillin

McMILLIN, Ruth Iris -- Age 86, of Gaines, died Monday, October 23, 2006 at Tendercare of Westwood in Kalamazoo. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, October 27, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Rev. Peter Haas officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Thursday, and 10 AM until the time of the funeral Friday.  Contributions may be made to the Old Newsboys of Flint, 3216 Lapeer Road, Flint, MI 48503.  Ruth was born March 31, 1920 in Coffeeville, KS, the daughter of William and Etta (Brunnemer) Bowen.  She married William Victor McMillin October 19, 1940 in West Plains, MO and he preceded her in death June 17, 1978.  She retired in 1984 from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections in Flint after many years of service.  Surviving are: 2 children, Mark and wife Laura McMillin of Otsego, Christy Miller of Gaines; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Karen Ammerman of Diamondale.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Billie Sue Atherton; son, Curtis McMillin.
