Ruth Leavitt

LEAVITT, Ruth Benson, 92, of Marietta, GA, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was born in Bay City, MI, to Fannie and Joseph Benson, of blessed memory. Ruth graduated from Bay City Central High School and married James Harold Leavitt, of blessed memory and moved to Flint where she spent all but the last few years of her life. They had three sons; Norman, Marietta, GA, Lee Howard, of blessed memory and Kenneth of Swartz Creek, MI. She was a stay-at-home mom. In her later years she worked at Heitzner's and the Vogue until her retirement. Due to illness she was forced to leave her Eastside Flint home of over 50 years to live with her sister in Flint, Rachel Kassel, of blessed memory. After Rachel passed she moved to Marietta to live with her son, Norman. She later was transferred to hospice care in Marietta where she passed away. She is survived by Norman, his wife, Sandi, Kenneth, his wife, Gayle, daughter-in-law Alice and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be at Machpelach Cemetery, Flint, MI. At 1:00 pm Friday, February 20, 2015 with Rabbi Yisroel Weingarten officiating.
