HYLEN, Ruth Barbara - Age 92, of Fenton formerly of Flint, died Saturday, October 15, 2016. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1025 Main St, Fenton. Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Wednesday from 3-8 PM and at church Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or Michigan Community VNA Hospice, 30800 Telegraph Rd, Suite 1728, Bingham Farms, MI 48025. Ruth was born June 19, 1924 in Flint, the daughter of Herbert and Emma (Bickel) Geyer. She was a 1942 graduate of Flint Central High School and had attended Flint Junior College. She married William "Bill" Hylen June 16, 1945 in Flint and he preceded her in death May 11, 1989. She owned and operated The Treasure Mart for 32 years, retiring at the age of 79. She had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flint for 86 years and recently was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fenton. She also was a member of Zonta, Genesee County Historical Society, Whaley Historical House, and Friends of Sloan Museum. Surviving are: 4 children, Tim (Jane) Hylen of Fenton, Mary (Chuck) Smith of Goodyear, AZ, Eric (Marcey) Hylen of Fenton, and Bruce (Beth) Hylen of Fayetteville, NY; 8 grandchildren, Travis (Tali) Hylen, Tara (Adam) Tyler, Todd (Shannon) Smith, Summer (Rik) Boron, Allie Hylen, Nina Hylen, Parker Hylen, Bella Hylen; great grandchildren, Luci, Piper, Savannah, Jude, and Gus; brother, Victor Geyer; sister-in-law, Marilyn Danz; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale Hylen; and brothers, Armand and Harold Geyer. Online tributes may be posted on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
