Ruth D. HIGGINS

HIGGINS, Ruth D. -- Age 80, of Swartz Creek, died July 30, 2009 at her residence. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Monday, August 3 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Dr. James Grotts officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 2-5 and 7-9 PM Sunday, 11 AM until the time of the funeral on Monday. Those desiring may make contributions to McLaren Hospice. Ruth was born August 2, 1928 in Flint the daughter of Thomas Johnson Brevard and Maude L. (Elliot) Brevard. She was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School and had resided in Flint Township and Swartz Creek the past 62 years. She married William Smith Higgins March 6, 1948 in Angola, IN. She was a member of the Swartz Creek VFW Auxiliary, the Arid Club, and Al-A-Non. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, and playing cards. Surviving are: husband William S. Higgins; four children, Cathy D. Stewart of Flint, Gary L. Higgins and wife Carol of Corunna, H. Bruce Higgins and wife Debbie of Fenton, Gregory A. Higgins of Corunna; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Lloyd V. Brevard and wife Catherine of Holland, MI; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; two brothers, Frank and Joe; and sister, Bertha.
