Ruth Marie DeShong

DESHONG, Ruth Marie - Age 84, of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Avalon Hospice. The celebration of her life will be held 11AM Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Minister Mark Aites officiating. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Sunday, 10-2 and 4-8PM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Avalon Hospice or Swartz Creek Church of Christ. Mrs. DeShong was born August 18, 1922 in Paragould, Arkansas the daughter of the late Victor and Ida Mae (Mapes)Tarrant. She was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and Hurley Nursing School. She worked as a Nurse at Hurley and Flint Osteopathic Hospitals ending as a Floor Supervisor at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Ruth enjoyed golf, cross word puzzles, crocheting, knitting, cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jerry DeShong of Swartz Creek; her children, Peggy Krummel of Flint, Phyllis and husband Jim Robinson of Swartz Creek, David and wife Cheryl Teachworth of Gaines, Laura Willis of Flint, Jane and husband Chris Duncanson of Clearwater, FL; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Henderson, Louise Raisen, Hazel Staley, Gerry Koch of Colorado, Marge and husband Jim Foster; brother, Leon and wife Betty Tarrant.
